Banned:
Anything with a negative connotation (Burning, Flaming, Raining, etc)is banned.
Star and Moon prefix or suffix are banned. Only leaders are allowed to have sun suffix or leaders who have been exiled.
Dream, Comet, or anything relating to starclan are banned.
Sun is not banned and may be used!
Any type of pattern besides a few are banned from use; calico, tortie, tabby, all those may not be used as a prefix or suffix.
Accepted Prefix(s):
-Herbs are allowed if they have one syllable (for example no catmintpaw but mintpaw will be accepted).
-Flowers are accepted though usually only she-cats take those names.
-Trees are allowed (birch, oak, apple, orange even).
-Animals are allowed sort of. Frogs and prey animals are allowed as prefix only (toadpaw, frogfur, swallowpelt, etc). Large cats are allowed (tiger, leopard, panther), but large animals in general are not allowed. Cow, horse, sheep are not allowed, but bear and badger are, as well as Hawk and eagle.
-Body parts are not allowed as prefixes but are fine as suffixes.
-Some patterns such as Spotted or Roan (rare) or Speckle are allowed, however Stripe or calico or tabby are not used as Prefix.
Accepted Suffix(s):
-Fur or pelt are the most common of the suffixes.
-Body parts such as tail, leg, eye, whisker, are the second most common
-Heart is accepted though should be used only for those who are kind and sweet or have shown they have compassion. Fireheart received his warrior name due to helping out the shadowclan kits.
-song is allowed as a suffix but should be used sparingly.
-Whisker, just have to note. Whisker is given as a suffix usually for cats who are naturally thoughtful or sensitve.
-Patterns are allowed. What do I mean? Such as tabby stripes, leopard spot. Example: Bramblespot, Oakstripe.
-any sort of natural element such as cloud, storm, or blaze is allowed.
That's the gist of it. Remember:
cats younger than 6 moons end in -kit suffix.
cats over 6 moons but not yet a warrior end in -paw suffix.
leaders end in -star suffix.
Leaders choose the names of apprentices to warriors. Queens choose kits names.
Leaders have the power to change a cats name at any time (with the other member's permission).
